We are winding down from day 2 post transplant. Everything thus far has been pretty un eventful. I have to be at the clinic every day at 7AM for six hours to get fluids and such. Not much room to get into trouble there.
My counts are steadily dropping, as evidenced by the lab report taken each AM. I'm still close to the low end of normal range though. Doc says I should bottom out by Thursday. I feel fine so far. I've developed a nice little mouth sore in the back of my mouth behind my teeth on one side. It's no fun. The mouth sores are normal and I'm told will get much worse as counts drop. My taste keeps going further and further away too. About the only thing that makes me happy right now is ice cream and protein shakes. It will probably be that way for a while until my mouth clears up and I start to get my taste back. At this point, it is just a waiting game.
Thanks so much to everyone helping out and donating platelets at the clinic. That is so huge- a real testament to the friends that Melissa and I try to keep. You guys are the best! I'll check back in after a couple more days. Cheers
Jeff, you are in it to win it, my friend! Looking forward to seeing you and Melissa in the hopefully not to distant future.

I'm glad to hear J is doing so well - but not at all surprised. I gave platelets on Sat. but apparently I messed something up. I was just chillin' watching Semi Pro when the the nurse rushed over to unhook me. I asked if I was all done and she said yes because I had turned my arm and pinched the needle or something, never did get a full explanation. Anyway, they still got some platelets so it wasn't a total loss. Keep up the good spirits and get well.

If you start bouncing off the walls... no worries brother. It's just some of my ADD platlets making themselves at home. You might also start craving beer, however, I guess you won't notice any difference there! We are thinking of you! Jeff & Jill

Melissa and Jeff, just checking back in fresh from vacation. Looks like you guys could use one yourselves! I didn't have internet access in Maine, but on transplant day we nearly puked in your honor--eating too many wild raspberries. Even though I couldn't check the blog, I kept you constantly in my thoughts and came back ready to help out. Melissa, I know your control freak tendencies, so here's just one more reminder to identify ways people can help you!!! Don't forget that it makes people feel good to be able to do something truly useful, even if it is just running to the grocery store or walking the dog. I know you are surrounded by so much love and support that it can even make you feel bad, for not having a task to give somebody! So don't go down that path, but do post some links to your favorite zone recipes or dream up some other highly specific favors that we can work on which will make your life just a little bit easier.
Jeff, just hang in there buddy. We love you and can't wait to celebrate with you when you are ALL BETTER--and will be glad to celebrate in the meantime, too.

p.s. thanks to BTB I did a bike/run duathlon in Vinalhaven ME and was the 3rd female finisher. I actually placed in a race for the first time ever--and you guys get all the credit!
