Thanks to everyone for all the posts the last several days. The positive energy keeps me up. I really appreciate hearing from y'all. It's also great to let us know what you are up to as well. I feel like I've almost been cut off from the world since all this started up.
Just wanted to post up today to let everyone know things are pretty much back to "normal". That is, if you consider normal getting up and hanging out in a cancer treatment clinic for 6 hours a day normal. Unfortunately for us, it is. At least for a little while longer. We are pumped everyday when we leave here knowing that it another one behind us, and one closer to the end. My body is fighting constantly for an early recovery and discharge. If I were a betting man........
The eating has gotten a bit better. I'm able to eat solids without a problem. Its just hard to find something that is appetizing enough to eat. My tastebuds are still dead, and nothing has any taste. Its really weird to go from a food obsessed individual to food adverse almost overnight. I'm told it will come back soon.
OK- thats enough randomness for now. Fighting to see everyone soon!
Think of this as a great dietary opportunity for you. If nothing tastes good anyway, you might as well chow down on the stuff that's good for you but that you don't normally like. If spinach tastes the same as brownies, might as well get all Popeye on the spinach. That's what I do on those days when nothing "sounds good" for lunch, I just go for the healthiest option I can find and save the junk food for when I have a craving.
By the way, since you asked what we're up to, my softball team is going for a perfect regular season tonight - something nobody on our team has accomplished before. And most of us have been in the league 10 years or more. I haven't hit one out of the park yet, but if we can sweep through the play-offs, the homer can wait till next year.
Stay Strong!

'Tis lovely to read the update from you.
You just let us know when the taste buds start coming in, and we'll hook you up with some tasty vittles.
Expect some hellos from your fan club Saturday morning - will be great to see you, even if you are in a bubble...

Haha! I knew my mom didn't know how to blog! Way to go Mom! You have come so far since the library computer system in Lakewood! Now, I am just waiting for Jeff's parents to get on here! :)
Thanks so much to all of you for the support. Ash/Santi/Sully, you will all be awhlright.
Yug: no worries on the platelets. Please thank Jennifer for trying. Donations for Jeff are over 100 now! I think we are good!

Jeff, so so glad you're feeling better. As Sully said and you so aptly put it, "just finish the drill" ...it's 4th quarter and you are almost thru this...
As to the no taste bud thing, maybe do a contest where you try all sorts of crazy healthy food and record all the weird stuff you ate? I saw this weird picture of the Olympics tailgating and the crazy sh*t the fans are eating in China. Man. That stuff is fried otherwise I'd suggest some of those "delicacies."
See ya soon.

Hi Jeff and Melissa....so good to get an update from you. Jeff...you are such a fighter - truly an inspiration. Melissa....you are amazing. You have such strength of character - both of you!
A quick little story that might make you smile. Barry and I just got back from doing the Tahoe Rim Trail 50k Trail Run (obviously out at Lake Tahoe). It was spectacular - 31 miles along the trail up the east side of the lake. Amazingly breathtaking views. I must tell you that it was by far the toughest running event I've ever done. There were times along the run when I really was beginning to question in my mind whether I was going to be able to finish. It was at those moments thought that I thought..."well, you've felt this bad before doing Murph, or doing Fran, or some other crossfit workout". I kept telling myself to just dig a little deeper like I've done at BTB before. I made it - although a slow finish (12 hours) but who cares...I finished. But, it truly was my experience at BTB (and the pain and suffering that you put me through!) that I can definitely say contributed to my finishing this race.
Take care you guys. Always thinking about you. All the best!!
